In October the National Institute for Digital Learning launched our Visiting Scholar Series and since then we have hosted three excellent presentations. Professor Grainne Conole started the series and then in December we hosted Dr Bart Rienties from the UK Open University and last week Associate Professor Steve Wheeler from Plymouth University. All three presentations make excellent viewing and if you have a spare hour or so over the next few weeks, then we highly recommend you take time to watch the three videos embedded below.
We are looking forward to hosting further visiting scholars over 2015 and information about future speakers will be posted via Twitter (@NIDL_DCU) and on our forthcoming events website. The Visiting Speaker Series is open to all comers and next year we plan to ensure some of our speakers are able to get around other parts of Ireland.
As part of the NIDL’s Visiting Scholar Series, the following video is now available of Professor Grainne Conole addressing the topic, “Why Digital Learning Matters: Global Trends and Local Opportunities”. The video also contains a brief but thoughtful panel response to the presentation with valuable contributions from Dr Eloise Tan, Dr Kevin O’Rourke and Dr Edna Donlon. We would like to thank everyone involved in making this such a successful event with many lively follow-up conversations over refreshments.
The next presenter in the Visiting Scholar Series will be Dr Bart Rienties from the UK Open University talking about learning analytics. Bart is well known for his work in this area and is a very engaging speaker. More information about this forthcoming event, which is open to all, is available from the NIDL events website and registrations will open in the next few days.
